He was spread out on his bed, tangled in a mess of sheets. He was a heavy sleeper, but despite that, he tended to roll around in his sleep. He wasn't sure why it was, he just had a habit of moving around. If he went to bed on the right side of the bed, he would awake to find himself angled to the left, one arm hanging off of the side. He always felt well-rested when he woke up in the morning, so obviously it wasn't because he was uncomfortable.
Soon a knock came at the door. “Your Highness, are you awake yet?” a man asked from the other side of the door. This was the third time this morning he had come to check on the Prince. The servant had decided to let the young man sleep, as he had been up late last night at a social gathering, but this was verging on ridiculous. He opened the door and walked through. “Your Highness, morning has come and gone, it is time for you to wake up.” Aiden replied with a groan. The servant walked to the other side of the room and opened the curtains. The young man rapidly blinked, adjusting his eyes to the light.
“I don't feel good.” Aiden sighed. His stomach was turning, and he had a horrible headache. The light pouring into the room probably wasn't helping very much. “Shall I fetch you a pail?” the servant retorted. “Ha ha, very clever Thomas.” Aiden snarked. “Yes please.” Aiden sat up, his head whirling. “It's what you get for drinking the equivalent of two bottles of wine,” Thomas snickered. Yes, Aiden did regret that. But he had to show up those old fogies. Those old, washed up, stuck up nobles. They needed a good beating. And he could imagine that they were probably faring worse than he was right now. “Just go get the pail.” Thomas left the room, and Aiden stood up, wobbling quite a bit.
“Here you are,” Thomas said as returned. He held the bucket in from of the prince but Aiden waved him away, telling him to just keep it handy. Thomas put down the pail and helped Aiden remove his night gown. When he was younger, job of dressing Aiden used to belong to some of the female servants, however once they started blushing after dressing him, the job was assigned to Thomas. Soon he was bathed and dressed. There were a few times where he thought he was about to throw up, but he never did.
Now, ready for the day, what was left of it anyway, he needed to find something to do. He asked Thomas if he had seen his sister. Thomas replied that he had seen her earlier, but did not know where she was. Aiden decide he would go look for her. He walked the walls of the castle for a while, be fore noticing her out of the window. She was shooting targets outside. He smiled, leaning at the window and watching his sister hit target after target. He closed the window and made his way downstairs and out to where she was practicing.
Aiden walked up to her, his footsteps silent. Soon he was nearly behind her. He watched as she placed an arrow and pulled back on the drawstring, aiming at one on of the targets. As she was about to let go, he spoke. “Hi sis!” |

It was her favorite way to spend the day. So much so, that she had probably been here for as long as Thomas had been trying to wake Aiden up. Servants kept a sharp eye out for when she was running out of arrows, and were quick - and quiet about replacing them. In fact, some of them did so without her even noticing their presence. She actually preferred it this way, it made her feel like she was all by herself, just her and the - - hi sis!
She swung around, arrow fully loaded and drawn back. She shot the boy a glare. "Do you not desire to live today Aiden? I promise, I can make it a nice long and painful death." She was purposefully speaking louder. Fully aware that the boy had been drinking more than he could handle the night before. Despite how she looked, she handled her alcohol well. So well, that she had never been drunk...or if she had, she hid the signs of it really well. She refused to tell anyone her secret, it was hers, and hers alone.
With a sigh, she turned on heels, releasing the arrow at the target in the motion. "What are you up to today Aiden?" She threw a glance back at him. "Or should I ask, what are you up to tonight? As it is well into the day already. None of you princelings are worth much. Partying all night, sleeping in all day." Her mood was quite foul. This probably had to do with the fact that there had been obvious flirting the night before. "Perhaps it is time to trade you lot in for someone new, better looking, and half your age?" She hmphed and stalked towards a man who was holding a tray with water on it. She snagged the glass and downed it, glare once more shot at her brother. Now he had an angry girl aiming an arrow at his face. He knew she wouldn't release it, or at least he hoped she wouldn't, but just the threat was enough to make him jump a bit. When she spoke his head began to throb harder. She was talking so loudly. He looked at her and frowned. She was doing it on purpose. “I desire to live a lot. There's a lot of things I still want to do.” He frowned. “And could I kindly ask you to keep your voice down, my head hurts... a lot.” He would adjust to it eventually, but he would rather not have to deal with the pain. Or any more pain, as it were, seeing as it was incredibly bright outside.
As she spoke again, he realized she really had no intention of lowering her voice. Instead of giving her the enjoyment of seeing him squirm and complain, he decided he would do his best to remain as calm as possible. “You really want a little ten year old prince running around here? I hardly see how that's an improvement. And finding someone better looking would be next to impossible.” Yes he was a bit vain. It was hard not to be though when you were as good-looking as he was. “And I'm sorry if I was up most of the night, I needed to beat those old stuck up nobles. At least I didn't go to bed before the sun had even set.” It was an exaggeration, but he had to find something to nag her about. She was definitely winning. She always won though, so it was nothing new. But he at least like to put up a fight. As much as he loved his dear sister, she was a bit, well, he had a hard time describing it. It didn't matter though, he loved her, even if she got on her nerves.
Aiden smiled and decided what he needed to do was just move on. “Good almost afternoon, sister,” he said as he moved to hug her, and kissed the top of her head. “Sorry I slept in so late. How has your morning been?” As he talked, he felt his stomach start to rumble. He realized the last time he ate was a few hours before he went to bed, and now it was noon. He turned his head to the targets, looking at the arrows sticking out of them. “It seems your archery is excellent as always. I'm not even sure how much better you could get.” His stomach rumbled again. “Have you eaten yet? I am starving.”

Though, the boy really should have seen this coming, it was what he got for being such a snot and going and flirting with anything with legs and a chest. He really had such bad habits, it irked her. Not that it should, her obsession with him sometimes bordered on creepy. She could not help it though, he was someone dear to her, and she was not the type to have a lot of things that she cherished so deeply. Sure, she loved her other siblings, but she was pretty sure she could not live without Aiden. He was like...her other half. Yay for mushy moments. Not that he seemed to think such things. Maybe if she found someone else, someone that she could bond with on an emotional level like she had Aiden, maybe then she would not be so clingy to him. Maybe.
She snorted though as he demanded that she did not really want a ten year old running around. "You sure are particularly vain this morning. I don't suppose he needs to be better looking, just cuter with a nicer personality. Also, children are little darlings, they don't run about drinking and flirting with anything that moves." She raised a brow at him though as he stated he wanted to show those nobles who was boss, her eyes rolled and she let out a sigh. "Yes, yes. The my staff is bigger than your staff deal. Except you just showed yourself off to be a remarkable arse. Why do you even care what those stiffs think of you? They only bother you because you let them, really they are nothing more then a waste of space, and a heater in the winter when we need some hot air to be blown." She was feeling particularly brash this morning, her word choice was fairly unladylike, and had anyone else been around besides the servants and Aiden - someone else who was not used to the princesses loose tongue, they might have blushed several shades of red at her words.
She heaved a sigh as he spoke again, her own gaze went to the targets where servants were now removing the arrows. "There is always room for improvement, there is always someone out there who is better then you. I cannot afford to get cocky in my ability. While I am a princess and will likely never have need of this skill, it might very well save my life or the life of someone I care for one day. Not to mention, it is soothing. Like Archibald has his women to relieve his stress, I have my archery." She shrugged and stepped forward, grabbing a quiver that was now full and shoved it onto her back. The bow was also latched into place on the holder of the quiver. Finally she moved towards her brother.
Arm was threaded through his with a smirk. "Lead the way my brewery of a brother!" Basically implying he stank here. [style=clear: both;] [style=font-size: 20px;]the path of idleness [/style]➔ [/style][/style]

Sure he was hungover, and he had a bad headaches, but he wasn't in a bad mood. Now, however, he was getting there. Aiden really had no idea what he had done to deserve such treatment from his beloved sister. Was he mean to her? Did he ignore her? Did he harm her in some way? No. Not as far as he knew anyway. He was male though, so that meant he was an idiot and never had any idea of what he had done. If he could have come to that conclusion, that he was male, and thus he never did anything right, his life would have been much easier.
“I'm not vain, it's the truth,” he gave a large smile, hoping that this would clue her into the fact that he was kidding. He didn't know anyone who could shove their head so far up their arse- oh wait, he out drank a lot of them last night. “And I have a nice personality,” he said, feigning dejection, hoping to aquire some sympathy. It was hopeless though, Aiden had never really known Aria to be sympathetic, at least towards him. He laughed at her line about how children don't run around flirting with anything that movies. He thought about saying that Archie might as ell have, but decided against it. If he hadn't known his sister better, he would've become incredibly pink at her comment. It sounded crude, but his sister never was really one for decorum unless it was necessary. “There's no need to compete with those old mens shriveled up 'staves,'” he said with a smirk. “Truthfully, I could care less about out drinking them, but they're all so cruel and egotistical, and they care nothing for the people of this world. All they care about is their money and their power.” He clenched his fists. He hated it, he hated them. He gave a large smile, trying to push away his anger.
Aiden had tried archery once. He was horrible. So horrible, in fact, that he had hit a servant who wasn't even near the target he was aiming for. Luckily it was just a training arrow and just left a bruise, but still. After he shot that first arrow, he never attempted it again. It amazed him how good at it Aria was. He could probably sit there, amazed, and watch her for hours. Hearing the sound of the arrow speed through air, the sound the string made when it was released, and the sound of the arrow hitting it's target, not to mention seeing the grace and speed with which let the arrows fly then reload. Aiden smiled. “Whether you need this skill or not, you are absolutely amazing at it my dear sister.”
Their arms were hooked together and leaned his head on hers, and they started walking towards to the palace. At her comment about him smelling like a brewery, he smiled and gave a chuckle. That was his sister. |

"It will be faster if we serve ourselves and eat in there rather than wait for it to be brought to us." Not to mention, Aria was fairly certain that there would be other - lesser royals, eating in the dining room about now. She had no interest in rubbing elbows with that lot. No, she was not prejudice against their lesser rank. She just could not stand how the lesser royals thought that they were better than everyone - including her brother and sister. She was not the type to make such a fact known, even Aiden did not realize her mind followed that track, but that was the real reason.
Her steps slowed as they reached the kitchen, grip tightened on Aidens arm. "Non-alcoholic related drinks only. You're not that much fun when you are drunk my darling of a brother." She smiled up at the boy, pulled away and pushed the door to the kitchen open.
Aria oddly enough, did not seem out of place in the setting at all. Than again, she was the type that could make herself at home in most settings. She slipped between several girls working on pastries, working her way to where a brute of a man stood over a large pot. She snatched two bowls from nearby, and held them out to the man. He gave her a look, shook his head and poured several ladles full of thick broth in them. He then motioned at another girl who nodded in response.
Once more she slipped through and worked her way to a table, nodding for Aiden to join her. A bowl was set before him, and not too long after, bread appeared alongside it. It was steaming fresh. Typically it would have been colder had they gone to the dining room, hinting that sometimes the staff played their own jokes on the royals.
She set to eating it, glancing at the boy curiously. "Aiden. Where is Kate?" She flashed a smile at the girls name. Aria was known for her love of torturing the girl. Or perhaps just bickering with her. She was as mean to the girl as she was to Aiden himself. Which hinted at some sort of fondness towards her. Surprisingly. He rather liked the idea of avoiding the dining room, just in case it was occupied but some people they would rather be avoiding. Aiden had no issues with eating in the Kitchen. In fact, he enjoyed it a bit more than eating in the dining room. The servants sometimes looked at them a bit strangely, as if to say 'why would you eat in here when you could eat in the dining room?'
“And you're not that much fun ever,” Aiden teased, sticking a tongue out at his sister. He could be childish sometimes, at least when Aria was involved. “I had enough last night anyway.” The thought of ingesting any alcohol for a month made him sick to his stomach. It made him even more glad that Aria decided to avoid the dining room. He really didn't want to face those stuffy nobles, even if he did win.
He sat down at the table, his eyes fixed on the tabletop. He wasn't looking at anything, or even thinking of anything in particular. He was just trying really hard not to let his stomach rumble. He was very hungry, and the scents of the kitchen weren't helping any. When Aria set a bowl down in front of him, he gave her a thankful smile, and dug in. The broth was thick, but it wasn't very heart, leaving him slightly unsatisfied. It was better than having nothing at all though, and as he swallowed a spoonful, his stomach started to settle. When the bread was set down, he became much happier. The prince tore off a small piece and dipped it in the broth, then stuck it in his mouth, the soup filled bread melting in his mouth.
He looked up at his sister when she asked about his guardian. Aiden thought for a moment. She had been with him last night, and she was the one who guided the drunken prince to his room. He hadn't seen her since he passed out though. “I'm not sure, actually. She took me back to my room after I started to fall unconscious, but I haven't seen her since.” Now that Aria had asked, he grew curious. He usually saw her not long after he woke up, but maybe because he was sleeping so long she decided to find something to do. Aiden decided he would have to go find her later.
“How was your meal?” he asked his sister, a satisfied feeling in his stomach. “Do you have any plans for the rest of the day?”
